Location: Annapolis, Bodega, Bodega Bay, Camp Meeker, Cazadero, Cloverdale, Duncans Mills, Forestville, Geyserville, Guerneville, Healdsburg, Jenner, Monte Rio, Rio Nido & Sea Ranch

Eligible fuels: Wood (uncertified) -> wood (certified), pellet, natural gas, propane, and electricity (heat pumps)

Notable feature(s): Supplemental amounts are available for commercial businesses, low-income applicants, and the Russian River area. Rebates also available for decommissioning fireplaces or woodstoves.

Incentive Amounts
The Northern Sonoma County Air Pollution Control District provides $1,000 rebates to residential property owners to replace an uncertified wood appliance with an EPA certified wood appliance or $2,000 rebates to replace an uncertified stove with a natural gas, propane, or pellet appliance. Low-income applicants are eligible for an additional $2,000 and Russian River area applicants are eligible for an additional $1,000. Qualifying commercial property owners are eligible to receive a $1,000 rebate for changing-out an uncertified wood heat appliance.

Program Duration
Upgraded program is open and accepting applications, first come first served, as of November 1, 2016.     

Procedure
No purchases may be made prior to submitting application and receiving a signed voucher from the District. To qualify for a rebate voucher, applicants must submit an application to the District. If accepted, the District will issue a reimbursement voucher. Applicants must purchase and install the new device, destroy and dispose of the old device (with documentation of destruction and scrappage), receive a permit and an inspection from the building department, and submit their completed paperwork to the District within 90 days of receiving the voucher.

Requirements
Applicants must have the new device professionally installed, but there are no prohibitions on where they purchase it. Applicants are required to obtain a building permit, receive a building inspection, and dispose of the old appliance at a landfill, scrapping facility, or recycling facility. Applicants must destroy their old appliance by cutting a hole in the firebox or crushing it so that it cannot be reused or sold. The installation of uncertified wood appliances is banned in incorporated areas of Sonoma County.
