Notable feature(s): If renter awarded rebate, owner of house must pay at least 20% of cost; full cost replacement for income qualified participants, minimum $1,500 rebate is not income restricted.
Incentive Amounts
Washington County offers residents $1,500 incentives to upgrade their uncertified or old wood stoves to pellet devices, gas devices, or electric heat pumps. Income-qualified applicants are eligible for larger rebates (either $2,500 to $3,500) and some may be eligible for grants covering the full cost of the new heating device, up to $5,000.
Program Duration
The program is ongoing until funds are depleted.
Procedure
Interested applicants should complete an application. Program staff will assess the home and verify the existing wood stove meets the eligibility criteria. Once approved, applicants will receive a letter confirming the rebate/grant amount. Rebates can be redeemed with a qualified program contractor.
Requirements
Renters are also eligible to apply. If they are awarded a grant for a free replacement, the property owner must contribute 20% of the total project costs.
