Wood Smoke Reduction Program

Location: Greater Wenatchee area, including Wenatchee, East Wenatchee, Sunnyslope, Malaga, and Rock Island
Eligible fuels: Wood -> wood (certified), pellet, gas, electric
Notable feature(s): Prohibits wood-to-wood change-outs.
Incentive Amounts
The Chelan-Douglas Community Action Council, with funding from the Washington State Department of Ecology and Department of Natural Resources, will be changing out 15-17 old wood stoves in the Greater Wenatchee area. Participants will be encouraged to replace their old wood stove with a ductless heat pump, pellet stove, gas stove, or a certified wood stove.
Program Duration
The program is scheduled to run until the end of June 2017. Priority is given to households with a wood stove as a primary heat source, residents who have respiratory or cardio-impairments, senior citizens and/or children under six, households with wood burning devices older than 15 years, households who are at or below 200 percent of the poverty level, and households located in close proximity to places such as parks, schools, apartments/dense housing, etc.
Requirements
To qualify for the program, residents must burn more than one cord per year in an uncertified or old woodstove (open fireplaces may be considered on a case-by-case basis) and be located in the Greater Wenatchee area.
