Application Details
Pellet stoves of all shapes and sizes are eligible for submission for the 2016 Pellet Stove Design Challenge. The only restriction is that they are designed to be installed in the living space (not the basement) and to heat air, not water.
Stoves can be already on the market, about to come onto the market or still a prototype. Stoves must be fully assembled, operational, and ready for testing as of March 15, 2016. The owner or manufacturer of the stove must pay all expenses to transport themselves and their stove to Brookhaven National Lab in Upton NY. There is no fee to submit an application for a pellet stove to the Design Challenge.
Six to eight stoves will be selected to participate in the Pellet Stove Design Challenge and they will be tested between March 21 and April 5, 2016. The stoves will be showcased during the workshop from April 6 – 8, where winners will be announced in various categories. Categories are likely to include highest efficiency, cleanest, most innovative, best value, etc.
Letter of Interest: We encourage anyone interested in entering this Design Challenge to fill out the Letter of Interest form as soon as possible. This does not commit you to filling out the full application, but will enable us to estimate a rough number of applicants, the types of technology we may need to test, and ensure that you get important updates about the Design Challenge.
Full Application: The Full Application is due on Friday January 26, 2016. All applicants must fill out the full application.
