The opening ceremony marks the official beginning of the Wood Stove Decathlon, the final event in the Next Generation Wood Stove Design Challenge. We are honored to have representatives from our judging panel, industry, the Washington diplomatic corp and the USDA. Over a year in the making, the Decathlon is an ambitious project to publicly test, judge and demonstrate the benefits of innovative stove designs that can help our country reduce its dependence on fossil fuels. The ceremony is free and open to the public and the tent opens at 10:00 and closes at noon. Attendees can also see the stoves being tested before and after the Ceremony and the exhibit area. 10:33 Lily Donge, Chairman of Board, Alliance for Green Heat 10:35 John Ackerly, President, Alliance for Green Heat 10:40 Tom Butcher, Judge & Senior Scientist, Brookhaven National Lab 10:45 Jack Goldman, CEO, HPBA 10:50 Minister-Counselor, Mrs. Soili Mäkeläinen-Buhanist of Finland 10:55 Ambassador Taksøe-Jensen of Denmark 11:00 John Padalino, Administrator, USDA Rural Utilities Service
